Itinerary

Itinerary

Pontevedra: capital of Rías Baixas

If there is one thing that characterises this Galician capital, it is the magnificent preservation of its historic centre and the fact that it is made for strolling. We will visit the ruins of Santo Domingo, the temple of Santa María and its relationship with the Guild of Seafarers, the iconic church of La Peregrina, and the main squares in a pleasant stroll through its monumental area.

Boat trip along the estuary

Our tour of the Rías Baixas includes a trip on a catamaran with an underwater viewing platform, where you can learn about the production of one of the most popular shellfish: mussels, of which Galicia is one of the world's leading producers.

Combarro: picturesque village

Through the narrow streets of Combarro we will discover the intimate relationship between the seafaring culture and the work in the fields, through its famous hórreos (granaries) and its local gastronomy. Here we will stop for lunch and there will be free time to explore the small historic centre.

A Lanzada, a magical beach

After lunch, we will discover one of the mythical sandy beaches of Atlantic Galicia, directly open to the ocean and still keeping interesting remains of the past of Viking attacks and traditional pre-Roman fertility rituals.

Cambados, capital of Albariño

The last stop of the day before returning to Santiago will be in Cambados, a former stately and merchant town on the Arousa estuary and today one of the epicentres of wine culture in the region of O Salnés and throughout Galicia. Not in vain, Cambados was recognised in 2017 as the European wine capital and is the centre of the Rías Baixas Protected Designation of Origin.
